Update for October 14

Regular Rehearsal on Saturday, October 14

This weekend is the Emanual, New London B-Team Volleyball Tournament.  Many of our students are involved with this as well.  If at all possible, please try to have your kids come to a portion of the rehearsal.  Remember it is OK if they wear their volleyball uniforms to rehearsal!

Rehearsals leading up to our November concert will be on the following Saturdays:

October 14, 21
November 4, 11, 18
November 19 - Fall Concert (6:00 PM)

Hansen's Updates

Thanks to all of our students, parents, relatives and friends for again making our Fall Fundraiser a huge success!  Preliminary numbers are in, but this may change once we get our final numbers from Hansen's.  For the fourth consecutive year, we surpassed our prevous years' totals!  For this year's drive, we set our goal at $9500 in sales.  Last year's total sales were $8982.  Although we did not reach our goal, we were VERY close with $9431 in total sales!  Nice work everybody!

PRODUCT DELIVERY DATE: Saturday, November 4 • 8:00-10:00am

The product will be distributed from the STAGE instead of the Commons as we have done in the past.  There is a large basketball tournament that day, and there will be too much activity in the Commons to set up our products.

*** ALL ORDERS MUST BE PICKED UP ON THIS DATE ***
If you cannot be there for pick up, please make arrangements for someone else to pick your order up for you.

Concert Vest Fittings will be Saturday, October 14

We will fit the concert vests for the Cadet Band and Concert Winds students on Saturday, October 14 during the rehearsal.  A few moms or dads is all that is needed.  We have several moms who have volunteerd for our uniform crew, but more would be welcome on fitting day.  Thanks for considering this very important volunteer opportunity!

Then on the day of the concert (November 19) we would need our parent uniform volunteers to assist with distributing the vests before the concert and collecting them after the concert.

Concert Dress for the November 19 concert

So that you have adequate time to prepare, here is a summary of what our students need to wear for our concert in November (Both Cadet Band and Concert Winds):

Ladies should wear black dress shoes, black socks or black hose, full length black pants (not faded), and a white button blouse with long sleeves. No tennis shoes, leggings, or capri style pants. Do not wear black skirts.

Gentlemen should wear black dress shoes, black socks, black belt, black pants (not faded), and a white dress shirt.

The Concert Winds members will wear a bow tie with their vests, so it is important to have a shirt with a "traditional" collar.

The Cadet Band members will wear a sweater vest for their performances. The vests will be handed out prior to and collected immediately following the concert.

Concert Winds members will receive a vest and bow tie before their performance.  Vests and bow ties will be handed out prior to and should be returned immediately after the concert.

Update for October 7

Regular Rehearsal on Saturday, October 7

This weekend is the Neenah Soccer Tournament.  Many of our students are involved with this as well.  If at all possible, please try to have your kids come to a portion of the rehearsal.  Remember it is OK if they wear their soccer uniforms to rehearsal!

Concert Winds will rehearse on the stage this Saturday due to the upcoming FVL Band and Choir concert on Sunday.  Cadet Band will be in the choir room as usual.

Rehearsals leading up to our November concert will be on the following Saturdays:

October 7, 14, 21
November 4, 11, 18
November 19 - Fall Concert (6:00 PM)

Hansen's Fundraiser Packets due this Saturday, October 7

As students arrive to check in at the attendance table, there will also be a table set up to receive the Hansen's packets.  Students or parents should drop them off at that time.  We will also have someone manning the table at the end of rehearsal to receive the packets.  Thanks to Mr. Kaschner and Mrs. Theimer for volunteering to collect those forms!  Thanks also to Mrs. Baldwin who will organize the forms and send them off to Hansen's by Monday afternoon!

The following information is a repeat of the email sent out this past Wednesday:

Remember that this Saturday, October 7, is the "turn in date" for our Hansen Packets.
To help you organize your packets, here is a helpful message from Hansen's:
  • Turn in Money and Orders on October 7 - if you cannot attend rehearsal that day make every effort to get the packet to us somehow (with another student or parent for example)
  • Payment must be turned in with orders
  • Make Checks Payable to "FVL Schools Band Program"
Print student name and group name (Concert Winds or Cadet Band) at the top of the order form. To get your profit, be sure to fill in the top 3 lines of all of the forms.

Turn in the top 2 copies of your order form (white and yellow). You keep the pink. Your order form will be returned to you on delivery day.  Remember that the delivery day was moved to November 4 (not October 21 as originally posted).
Hansen's Updates

As of today, we have combined total sales through the online option of just under $3,000!  This total does not include any "paper form" orders.  Additionally, 31 of our students have registered through the online site, and that has generated a total of 234 unique visitors to our FVL Schools sale!  It is obvious that the online option has been a hit with our band members' famillies and friends.  It will be interesting to see how many sales are generated through the traditional paper sales forms in addition to the online sales, as this is the first year for the online option.

PRODUCT DELIVERY DATE: Saturday, November 4 • 8:00-10:00am

*** ALL ORDERS MUST BE PICKED UP ON THIS DATE ***
If you cannot be there for pick up, please make arrangements for someone else to pick your order up for you.

ALL MONEY IS DUE: When you turn in your order (October 7)

MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO: FVL Schools Band Program

FVL Schools Band featured in the Lutheran Loop!

The current issue of Lutheran Loop has a wonderful article on the FVL Schools Band program!  Ten of our band students are featured in the article.  All of them were asked a few questions about our band program and what it means to them.  Their responses were very impressive!  Thanks to Kenny Vandenberg for taking time out of his schedule to visit our rehearsal a few weeks ago and help to promote our program with this article.  If you haven't seen the printed copy, HERE is a PDF of the article.

FVL Band and Choir Fall Sacred Concert

The FVL Band and Choirs will present their Fall Concert on Sunday, October 8.  The concert will begin at 1:30 PM and will last approximately one and a half hours.  The concert will take place in the FVL Auditorium. It would be fantastic to see our FVL Schools Band members in the audience for this concert.  I know there are many older siblings that go to FVL and participate in band and choir, so those students may already plan to attend.  Seeing the "big band brothers and sisters" from FVL perform is a fantastic way to build excitement for our FVL Schools Band members.  In just a few short years, they will also be a part of a high school band program.  The Packer game doesn't begin until 3:30, so you wil be home in plenty of time!
