Join parents from around the Fox Valley as we grow in God's Word and learn how to support one another. "Teenage Suicide: Warning Signs and Prevention" is a free event focused on identifying the warning signs of depression, suicidal thoughts, or self-harm in children and teens, whether they are in your own family or another's.
Suicide is a growing problem among our young people today. And it's a problem that affects young people regardless of their race, socioeconomic status, and religion. Suicide and self-harm have become almost accepted as reasonable choices, due in large part to the media and shows like 13 Reasons Why. As parents we want to believe that our teen would never struggle with something like suicide, and if they were struggling, that we would know. But would we?
This presentation addresses common triggers and warning signs of suicidal thinking and actions. Parents will learn what to look for and how to respond if they are worried for their teen. This presentation is designed to be interactive, with time for questions and discussion as well as handouts to use with your child or to share with others.
The speaker for this event is Elizabeth Robinson, a licensed professional counselor specializing in children and adolescents with a focus on depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. To learn more about Elizabeth, visit her bio page on the Christian Family Solutions website.
