REGISTRATION DEADLINE -  Wednesday, March 23, 2016.
This spring FVL is offering middle school age students the chance to train together as an FVL Middle School Track Team. Students will be coached in the various events of track and field, including sprints, long distance, jumps, throws, and hurdles. Participation is open to boys and girls, 5th through 8th grade. Practices will be held Saturday mornings, 9:00 to 11:00, in April and the first Saturday in May. Participants will have the chance to compete together as an FVL team against other local middle schools at a track meet in May. The cost of this program is $30. Students who participate in this program will still compete for their grade schools at the FVL Schools grade school track meet in May. For more details or questions, please contact FVL track coach Isaiah Degner at idegner@fvlhs.org or go to the FVL youth sports web page for track /about/youth-sports/track

Purpose

The FVL Middle School track team gives student athletes the chance to train and compete with potential future FVL classmates and teammates. Participants receive excellent coaching from a Christian perspective in the various events of track and field.

Coaches

FVL high school track coaches and some federation members will coach the middle school team. All coaches are WELS members and are knowledgeable and experienced in track and field. FVL high school track athletes will serve as assistant coaches.

Practices

Practices will be held Saturday mornings in April and the first Saturday in May from 10:00 to 12:00 a.m., with the exception of April 16 and 30, when practice will be 1:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon due to the Aspire test for 8th graders that morning.

Meets

For this first season, if there is enough participation, the FVL Middle Schools Team will compete against other local middle schools in one yet-to-be determined meet in May. Participants will still compete for their own grade school at the FVL Schools track meet on May 11.

Equipment and Uniforms

A uniform top (a T-shirt) and all other equipment, including starting blocks, hurdles, jumping pits, etc. are provided. Participants must provide their own shoes and practice clothing.

Cost

The cost to participate is $30 to offset the cost of uniforms and meet fees.
